Hello to all:
Now that the Converging cycle has finally run its course, I can turn my attention to a project that has long been my greatest passion. Journey through the Land of Shades was first conceived nearly twenty years ago and has evolved along with my love of fantasy fiction. It has been said that Jazz is a musician’s music and if this is so, then it could be said that fantasy must surely be a writer’s genre of writing. Fantasy is the true blank page of literary fiction…unfettered by constraints or obligatory nods to existing reality, it is a genre that allows the writer to roll up the sleeves of his or her imagination and focus the full arsenal of creativity upon the crafting of cultures, civilizations and histories as brilliant or dark as they see fit. The language of fantasy is also a compelling inducement to plunge into its water…beautiful, lyrical or poetic, it invites the author to paint images with complexity and artistry that few other genres welcome or appreciate. The Journey through the Land of Shades is the most ambitious project that I’ve ever undertaken (likely to span four, possibly five novels in length), and though it is a daunting quest, I can give a solemn oath that the cycle will offer the absolute best literary product that my talent can possibly produce. After all, I’m treading on the soil of Tolkien, Jordan, Erikson and a myriad of others who stand as veritable Gods in the genre. If all goes well, the first novel will be available come mid-summer of this year…there is much yet to be done, but I will be diligent.
